(June 16, 1995) URNS -- Other items of business conducted by synod during its Friday sessions included the following: * Tabling a report on what it means for women to "teach, expound the Word of God, and provide pastoral care, under the supervision of the elders" until the question of women in office is handled. * Rejecting a request to appoint a new committee to study inclusive language for God. * Adopting a proposal to have up to seven ethnic advisors at synod representing various ethnic communities in the CRC * Officially approving candidates for the Christian Reformed ministry, as well as welcoming chaplains and missionary personnel * Tabling a report on handling property matters when a church secedes from the CRC * Maintaining until 1997 the current suspension of ecclesiastical relations with the Reformed Churches in South Africa, initially imposed due to the RCSA's support of apartheid, pending discussion of additional concerns. * Voting in favor of admitting the Reformed Church in the United States to the North American Presbyterian and Reformed Council (NAPARC) * Voting to "graciously receive" a letter of apology from the Orthodox Presbyterian Church for misquoting the CRC's 1973 position on homosexuality. ------------------------------------------------- file: /pub/resources/text/reformed: nr95-066b.txt .
